The differences between invertebrates and vertebrates

Invertebrate and Vertebrate
Aget - 10 centaurus

Our earth is home to a vast amount of variety of animals. Animals that we see every day would probably include cats, dogs, cows, chicken, etc. But the animal kingdom is much larger than just a few thousand species. With roughly around 1, 589, 361 species discovered, the animal kingdom has so much to offer.

The animal kingdom is grouped into two subphylum, invertebrates and vertebrates. Invertebrates are animals without a back bone, meanwhile vertebrates are animals with backbone. Vertebrates have Well-developed internal skeleton and highly developed brain with an advanced nervous system. A vertebrate animal also has an outer covering of protective cellular skin. Invertebrates have 30 phyla, while vertebrates are classified into five groups: fish (Pisces), amphibians, reptiles, birds (Aves), and mammals. The invertebrates makeup almost all of the Animalia kingdom with 98% of the kingdom being an invertebrate, while the other 2% consists of vertebrates. Animals have been a very great help to mankind, from serving us dinner, technology inspirations, disease cures and much more.

A starfish is an invertebrate, because it has no backbone
An elephant is a vertebrate, because it has a backbone
